Today for my magazine I decided to research gender representation in the magazine world. When you go through google or any search engine and type in fashion or beauty magazine, the most common thing to show is women on the cover.
Gender Representation
For many years the common type of cover is to have skinny/fit blonde haired white women typically in the latest fashion. This is a stereotype that was created within society that resulted in the creation of beauty products that could possibly help others achieve the stereotypical look.
When women buy all types of beauty products to make them appear
more beautiful it could cause harm to them mentally or physically. The beauty
standard of being tall and thin, as well as white, has been an unreachable goal
for decades but as of now, the standards are finally evolving. The standards of
beauty are becoming more inclusive and diverse. The new generation as well has
played a major role in this evolution. By using social media, they have spread
positive body awareness.
